On the festival poster – designed by Laboratorio Zanna Dura – the V hidden in the legs stands for number 5 which is the number of Fish&Chips Film Festival editions made to date. But it also stands for Victory, as we succeeded in organizing it again after a two-years break.
This 5th edition is a condensed one, featuring 38 short films divided into two categories: explicit (22 films) and non-explicit (16 films). All those films will compete for a prize of €500 per category and, for the first time in our festival history, there will be an Audience Award.
The feature films – all of them out of competition – will explore different topics, all related to sexuality, such as sex and the old age and stereotypes about sex workers in the film industry. Sex work is a recurring theme in this 5th edition, thanks also to the presence of Linda Porn, who is always at the forefront of the fight for the rights of female sex workers. As usual, there will be no shortage of meetings, workshops, and a special focus on the more innovative productions, featuring HardWerk, a young production company which combines gangbang with cinema and feminism.
And after two years away from the scene, the festival will come on like gangbusters with the national premiere of Julia Murat’s Regra 34, winner of the Pardo d’Oro 2022, that is a powerful and radical Brazilian film in which the pursuit of pleasure becomes a political act. A true manifesto.
